Katy-Whitten Davidson is a poet, advocate, and teacher. After spending her youth in Mississippi, Katy-Whitten explored the east coast and the west before settling in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Katy-Whitten holds a Bachelor’s of Art in English from The University of Alabama and a Master’s of Fine Arts with a concentration in poetry from The University of North Carolina Wilmington. With a passion for education and social justice, she is dedicated to engaging her students both in the classroom and in the world around them through literary work and art by diverse authors and artists with underrepresented voices. She believes every voice is worth hearing, promoting both tolerance and inclusivity in her classroom. Her background in graphic design and book arts enables her to develop hands-on creative projects with her students to bring their writing to life.

As an artist currently immersed in motherhood, Katy-Whitten views her craft as a conscious awareness, a tuning in to the magic mundanities of everyday life. She is dedicated to finding the quiet beauty in the small, sometimes unnoticed, places and channeling that beauty in her poetry, design, and life.
